Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will appoint Amit Kapur, the current UK Country Head of the company, as the first Chief Al and Services Transformation Officer, effective September 1 to handle a new Al and Services Transformation unit, as per sources.

As per an internal note obtained by businessline, TCS said it will form a separate unit for its developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) after making “major forays on the Al front by scaling capabilities, reskilling workforce and deepening partnerships,” over the years.

The new unit will integrate all existing teams and capabilities in Al to work on service propositions, Al domain solutions, new partnership ecosystems, and accelerating rapid innovation in delivery of Al-powered integrated technology services. TCS’s current Al&Data unit will become a part of this new organisation.

“We will reimagine investments in TCS Pace Ports worldwide to bring real world experiences and possibilities of Al closer to our customers,” said the note shared with businessline.

Kapur will lead the unit globally and will report to Aarthi Subramanian, Executive Director – President & Chief Operating Officer. He heads the UK and Ireland regions, TCS’s second largest region, which enjoys a clear market leader position in customer satisfaction and is considered a Top Employer. As per his LinkedIn, Kapur originates from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, with more than 26 years of experience in the company.
